SHATEC’s Pasta-Making Taster Workshop

On 6 November 2024, SHATEC successfully wrapped up an enriching pasta-making taster workshop at its Orchard campus, offering pasta enthusiasts the opportunity to discover the fundamentals of pasta creation. This hands-on workshop was part of the Learning Neighbourhood @ Central 2024 initiative, which aims to empower individuals to enhance their skills and stay relevant in today’s evolving world.

Under the expert guidance of Chef Elizabeth Loo, a culinary trainer at SHATEC, the 90-minute workshop introduced participants to the basics of pasta-making. The session began with a brief demonstration by the chef, during which she shared her cooking techniques and valuable tips for preparing the perfect aglio e olio.

Once familiar with the dough-making technique, participants eagerly rolled up their sleeves, using pasta makers to flatten the dough to the perfect thickness before slicing it into uniform strands. This hands-on experience allowed them to experience the precise textures and techniques required to create an al dente pasta dish. From kneading and blanching to sautéing the ingredients, participants were actively involved in every stage. The rewarding moment came when they finally had the chance to taste their own pasta creations.

Alongside gaining culinary experience, participants were also provided with insights into how they could take their passion to the next level through SHATEC and SHATEC Orchard’s courses, with a short presentation by the SHATEC advisory team.

For anyone who missed SHATEC’s recent roadshow in Ang Mo Kio, you will still have the chance to connect with our advisory team at the upcoming My Career Health Matters roadshow, taking place from 14 to 17 November 2024 at Northpoint City.

In partnership with SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and Workforce Singapore (WSG), this roadshow will highlight SHATEC and SHATEC Orchard’s diverse range of professional and lifestyle courses, including Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) and SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme (SCTP) programmes. It’s a great opportunity for those looking to advance their careers or discover their true passion in the vibrant food and hospitality industries.
